In a 2021 interview, Hill said the show's creator and writer, Tyler Sheridan, was the driving force behind her decision to star opposite her real-life husband. Fans were pleased to see Hill back on the CMT red carpet and couldn't get enough of the "This Kiss" singer's latest look. The 54-year-old singer was on hand to act as presenter for the final award of the night, Video Of The Year, which went to Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood for their duet, "If I Didn't Love You." Faith Hill delighted fans by making an appearance at the 2022 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, Tenn. on Monday night. It’s a week night and you’re winding down after a long day at work, so you decide to run to the gas station and get you a sixer of Bud heavy’s, and flip on the TV for a little while before you call it a night.
Recorded for a special Cracker Barrel “Songs of the Year” album in 2007, it featured covers from Blake Shelton, Randy Travis, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson and more. Faith Hill hasn't officially released a new single since 2007's "Red Umbrella," which went to No. 28 on Billboard's Country Songs chart. But EW has learned exclusively that the country superstar is planning to make her long-awaited comeback by performing a new single, "Come Home," at this year's 45th Annual CMA Awards, which will air Nov. 9 on ABC at 8 p.m. “Come Home” is a song by Faith Hill, officially released as a standalone single.

American country singer Faith Hill covered the song in 2011, drawing on power pop and country pop influences. Country music was at its peak in popularity, and you had some absolute studs rocking the stage year after year at country music awards ceremonies. However, the “pop-country” sound was slowly starting to make its way into country music radio, and country music purists were not happy, to say the least.

The CMA Awards are set to be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who have done the job three times before. Besides Hill, other performers for the night include Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Paisley, Jason Aldean, and Keith Urban. Receiving no promotion beyond its digital release, "Come Home" was not nearly as successful as the album's first two singles, peaking at No. 80 during its sole week on the Hot 100.

George and Alan performed it at the 1999 CMA Awards, and recorded the tune for Strait’s 2000 Latest Greatest Straitest Hits album. It went on to win Song of the Year at the CMA Awards the following year. It’s not hard to see how “Dispatch to 16th Ave.” was inspired by “Murder On Music Row,” another great “stick it to the man” country songs of this generation.
A press statement was released to clear the air that her actions were not to spite the winner and that she was just trying to be hilarious, thus her reaction. Prior to the awards ceremony, Hill hit the red carpet in a green long-sleeve sequinned gown by Naeem Kahn. Her brunette tresses were pulled into a sleek ponytail, and she also wore a dramatic smokey eye makeup look. Originally written by Larry Cordle and Larry Shell, it was a lament of the death of traditional country music. In 1999, country legend George Jones release the Billy Yates and Mike Curtis-written song “Choices” as the lead single from hisCold Hard Truthrecord.

"Come Home" is a song by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder for the band's debut album, Dreaming Out Loud . The piano-based ballad features orchestral flourishes, and lyrically revolves around the eponymous pleading hook "Come home, come home". Some reviewers felt the song had political undertones as an appeal to recall American troops as Tedder had written the song about a friend serving overseas. "Come Home" was highlighted as a refreshing change of pace from the many similar-sounding songs composing Dreaming Out Loud. The CMA Awards show is unpredictable and full of surprises and suspense, adding spice to the event. However, some think these elements are flawed and have filtered out the show’s relevance.
Hill's rendition of "Come Home" debuted on the US Hot Country chart at No. 35, her best opening week since "Mississippi Girl", as well as on the Hot 100 at No. 82. Over its twelve-week run on the former, the song reached a peak position of 26. "It was really uncomfortable for me personally because I'm a very shy person in that type of situation," Hill said. "I obviously feel comfortable with my husband, but this is different. For intimate scenes, I feel like that belongs to us."

And we have to take this opportunity to share, because Lord knows the CMAs would never let a singer perform a song like this on stage nowadays. He began his performance with “Pop A Top,” but about halfway through, he broke into the George Jones hit and was immediately awarded a standing ovation. A lifestyle so perfectly captured by the country greats of yesterday, but still alive and well today in artists who truly get it. Hill and May along with McGraw star in the "Yellowstone" limited series prequel. Dierks Bentley and ol’ Possum teamed up for a cover of “Murder On Music Row,” for that record, and it’s pretty damn good. Not to mention, I’m willing to bet plenty of country fans don’t even know about it.
It almost seemed like she was expecting to win, perhaps even told ahead of time that she won, but either way, folks called her out for the poor reaction and it was front page news the next morning. Her last new album was Fireflies, which debuted on top the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart when it came out in August 2005. Subsequent albums were 2007's The Hits and a holiday compilation, Joy to the World, in 2008.
In 2009, the song was remastered featuring singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, and this version was issued digitally as the album's fifth and final single. The song debuted at #80 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of July 14 before dropping off the chart the following week due to a lack of promotion. The song was never serviced to radio, and failed to chart outside the U.S. "Come Home" was featured on episodes of Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, and Cold Case and the film Easy A. But then, Dierks Bentley and George Jones cut the song as well… a version that has flown under the radar for many country music fans.
It was an absolute hit and even won a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. On ‘Whiskey Riff Raff,’ Steve Gazibara and Wes Langeler give an unfiltered and unapologetic take on country music, life, and all the craziness that comes with it. The "Breathe" singer will grace the stage alongside her "1883" costar Isabel May to present the video of the year award, the final and biggest award given out during the ceremony, People magazine reported on Monday.

Faith Hill, 54, sparkles at first CMT Music Awards in 12 years
We take you far past “Monster Mash” with a collection of October-ready tunes by legendary English outfits, classic rockers, iconic composers, and even swing and ska bands. She gestured by raising her hand as a sign of revolt, but before she could get herself together, she had already created a scene. The role, in which she stars opposite McGraw as his wife Margaret Dutton, was the first major acting project for Hill.
Typically you’d just flip it on the 6 o’clock news or whatever is in primetime TV so you have something to stare at while you fall asleep on the couch. Alan later explained his reasoning saying that, although abridged performances were common at awards shows, this was the legendary George Jones… show him some damn respect. So that being said, let’s take a walk back to 1999, back when the respect for country music was still alive and well.
